Matthew 5: 16-16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
This shows us that we need to be the light to people. We are supposed to be the ones people come to when they have problems and issues, not the ones the run from for fear of judgment, or hypocrisy or fear that we will go around and tell people. I mean lets look at another passage.
John 8-1But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. 2At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them. 3The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group 4and said to Jesus, "Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery. 5In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?"6They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.
But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger. 7When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, "If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to throw a stone at her." 8Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, "Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
11"No one, sir," she said.
"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin."
When did we as Christians become unchristian? When did we take it upon ourselves to judge others? Have we removed ourselves from the scriptures that much? Have we forgotten what Jesus said in Luke?
Luke 6: 37-37"Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."
39He also told them this parable: "Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit? 40A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like his teacher.
41"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 42How can you say to your brother, 'Brother, let me take the speck out of your eye,' when you yourself fail to see the plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.
If Jesus was physically here in this room what would He say to you and me about how we act and treat people? Would He say well done my good and faithful servant, or would he treat us as he did those in the temple? I mean seriously; how do you look at other people? Do you judge them to make yourself feel better because you can say well at least im not like so and so who does -fill in the blank- ya know. Show me just once when Jesus judged someone for their sin. But the thing is you cant because he never did. He would tell them your sins are forgiven go and sim no more. Why cant we as modern christians pick up on that attitude and say to people " God loves you just the way you are, but He loves you too much to stay that way" and then help them deal with their issues as we deal with ours.
Church wasnt just meant for all the christians to come together and hang out two or three times a week. But it was a time when christians could come together and encourage one another as they went thru the week. the early church and early christians would walk around and pray for people in the streets, and people would be healed or delivered or whatever the case was, God was there.
And this is a total side note-but still needs to be addressed-
When did we start to think that people had to come to church to take care of their problems or issues. When did we say that worship was three songs that persist of verse, chorus, verse, verse chorus-next song? When did we limit God to only move in that allotted time? When did people start to care more about what time they got out of church, more than they cared about church its self. When did we put God in a box. And we cant say that we haven't. We think God has to work a certain way and act in such a way. We think that we can wrap our brains around the God who created everything that is and ever was with just speaking. I'm sorry but if i can wrap my finite brian around a God, then we are in a world of hurt.
.......but that is my two sense or really more like five dollars worth i guess but whatev, its just what i have been going thru....
